Costs to consider for your conversion
Conversions aren’t free, here are the costs you as a homeowner in the Twin Cities should consider when it comes to your conversion’s cost:
- Hiring a licensed electrician
- Utility company costs
- Any landscaping yard restoration cost. This is typically not covered by the utility company
- Other utility costs. If other overhead lines such as phone, internet, of cable need to be dropped, moved, or installed underground there may be additional charges from those utility companies.

What to keep in mind prior beginning to your project
- Is the pole in my yard?
- Is there an ally? If so, is the pole on my side of the ally?
- What is in-between the utility pole and my home? (IE: sidewalks, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, pools, hot tubs, rocks, trees, flower beds, sprinkler systems, septaic, wells, invisible fences)
- Will this need to intrude on my neighbor? (same items as above)
- What condition is my existing electrical service in?
- Will I be completing any major electrical upgrades in the future? (EV's, pools, hot tubs, ranges, dryers, water heaters, AC units, detached structures)
